Banquet Homestyle Bakes

a complete dinner that is surprisingly good

I went to the grocery store to buy the ingredients for a chicken dinner:  a package of fresh chicken, stuffing or potatoes, and possibly a vegetable.  A product I had noticed before caught my eye, and I decided to buy that instead.  As prepackaged meals I'd tried before required adding chicken, ground beef, or tuna, I was especially interested when I saw this product did not require anything other than water.

The country chicken style of Banquet Homestyle Bakes has everything you need in one package:  a large can of chicken and gravy (with generous-sized chunks of chicken), a packet of instant mashed potatoes, and a packet of biscuit mix.  To prepare it, all you need to do is mix the potatoes with water in an eight-inch square baking pan.  Pour the chicken and gravy on top.  Blend the biscuit mix with water in a separate container, and drop by teaspoonfuls on top of the chicken and gravy.  Bake and serve.

While the package says it makes five servings, if you have an average appetite it will make two or three satisfying servings. If you have leftovers, they are much easier to reheat than separate containers of chicken, potatoes, and vegetables.  Clean-up is a breeze, as you only have one pan.  It's a good product to have in the kitchen for when you want a fast, easy dinner.  It is also available in a number of other varieties, so you can find at least one you like.
