Over the years I have realized that there were many times recipes I tried turned out bad because I did not properly plan and prepare for the recipes. I found that when I rushed through them, they may have turned out poorly. Another reason for this is because I often did not have the right ingredients on hand. This led me to substitute. That, I have learned, can often be a really bad thing.Substituting ingredients can either turn out to be a really bad decision or a really good one. In some cases, there is very little difference. If you do not have a certain thing on hand, you may decide to use the most similar thing that you do have. This can lead to a recipe turning out differently than it was supposed to.

The reason that this can sometimes be good is because you may find that the ingredient you used actually added a really good flavor to the dish. If the dish needed some particular item and the item you used was really different, the consistency of the dish might be totally different.

I have learned that if I plan and prepare properly before cooking or baking, the results are always better. I have also learned that I need to make sure I have time to cook or bake before I begin. It seems like whenever I rush through any type of cooking, it never quite turns out. This is true for recipes I have made many times. So, take your time and plan ahead for the best results.
