I have tried a million lasagna recipes, and I have never been completely happy with the results, so I made my own recipe, and it is so easy. I made this just last week and my husband absolutely loved it.
To make this recipe, you will need:
- 1 lb. Italian sausage
- 2 jars of spaghetti sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 small container of ricotta cheese
- 16 oz. of mozzarella cheese, or more
- 9 lasagna noodles
To make this recipe, cook the lasagna noodles as directed and set aside. While they are cooking, fry the Italian sausage with the chopped onion. When this is done, you must drain it and then place it in a large pot. Add the two jars of spaghetti sauce and simmer until it is heated through.
Place three lasagna noodles in a 9 x 13 pan. Pour 1/3 of the sauce over the noodles. Spread the ricotta cheese on that and then sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on it. Repeat this three times, with the exception of the ricotta cheese because you can put all of that down at once.
Bake this dish at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes and out will come a delicious pan of lasagna. This will feed a lot of people, but it actually tastes better the next day. If you can, prepare it and bake it the day before. When you are ready to serve it, just heat it in the oven until it is hot. It will hold together better on the second day than it does on the first.
