Double orange refrigerator cake

Make this cake in the summer months.

I am attending a party on Saturday and we are all supposed to bring something, so I decided to bring a Double Orange Refrigerator Cake. I tried this cake recently and it was absolutely delicious. It is an ideal cake for the summer too because it is very refreshing.

These are the ingredients you will need for the cake:

  • 1 white cake mix
  • ¾ c. boiling water
  • 1 small package of orange jello mix
  • ½ c. cold water

To make this cake, you should begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. You should also grease a 9 x 13 cake pan. I always use glass pans for cakes. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package and bake it.

After you take the cake out of the oven, let it cool for about 20 to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, dissolve the jello in the boiling water. Add the cold water and set aside until it is at room temperature. Poke holes in the partially cooled cake with a toothpick or fork and then pour the gelatin mixture over the cake. Pour it slowly so that it fills in the holes you made. Refrigerate the cake overnight.

Next, make the topping for the cake. To do this you will need:

  • 8 oz. can of mandarin oranges
  • 8 oz. whipped topping
  • 1 small package of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2/3 c. water
  • Additional oranges for garnishing the cake

Combine the oranges, whipped topping, pudding and water in a bowl and stir until it is mixed well. Try to crush the oranges too. Spread the topping over the cake and garnish with additional oranges. Serve when ready.
