This homemade yellow cake is easy to make and tastes great.

Have you ever tried baking a cake from scratch? I remember my 93-year-old grandma telling me about back in the day when cake mixes first came out. Guess what? Before that people always baked cakes from scratch.

I know that I get tired of tasting the same cakes over and over. I am not a huge fan of cake anyways, and this might be why I have done a lot of experimenting with homemade cakes. Homemade food, to me, is always better, and this is true of cakes. Baking a homemade cake is not difficult, and they really only require basic types of ingredients. Here is a recipe for a homemade yellow cake that I really like.

The ingredients you will need are:

  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 1 ¾ c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 ¼ c. milk

Making this yellow cake is simple. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and then cream butter and sugar together. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well for 2 minutes. Place the cake in a greased 9 x 13 pan or in 2 round cake pans. Bake for approximately 30 minutes. You can use the toothpick test to see when it is done.

One thing I like to do is to place a whip cream frosting on this cake. I use real whipping cream to make it, and it is the perfect finish to this cake. You can also use this recipe to make cupcakes too.
